Update on Sanney from John Charles

A quick update on Sanney Leung:

His last chemotherapy treatment is on June 19th. He is on a liquid diet and spends much of the day in a bit of a daze, thanks to all of the pain and anti-nausea medication. He has been re-hospitalized a few times due to electrolyte imbalances, but his electrolytes are now being checked and re-balanced after every treatment, so hopefully this will not be necessary again.

Once his treatments have concluded next month, his oncologist says that he can expect to feel normal again in 2-6 months; let's hope it's the lower end of the scale.

All things considered, he is keeping his chin up and has not lost his sense of humor.

Sanney's domain name expired about ten days ago and now it looks like someone else has scooped it up. According to the registration, it belongs to someone or some company with a p.o. box in Vancouver, WA.

Sorry, I have no news on how Sanney is doing. If anyone knows please let us know here.

Thankfully, not all is lost. The Internet Archive has his site backed up until April of last year. I'm sure a lot of its out of date, but it might still be of use to some folks looking for "back issues." I would imagine Sanney probably has everything backed up somewhere, but just in case. . .

And to those so inclined, the HKMDB is backed up there too! (Bob's probably already aware of this already as I started a thread awhile back on it). It, too, is only backed up to early 2005, which makes me wonder if the Internet Archive is still actually archiving things!

Sanney's last chemotherapy treatment hit him pretty hard and he had to spend more time in the hospital. However, he tells me that, in the past two or three days, his strength has finally started to return. He joked that he watched his first movie in six months (CHUNGKING EXPRESS) and was pleased that he made it all the way through without nodding off. He is still taking an anti-nauseant, a second stomach medicine, and a pain killer, and thus spends much of the day feeling quite tired. This is less than he was previously on, however, and things will gradually be better as the drug levels are decreased.

His chemo is now all done and there is no trace of the tumor remaining. He still has a ways to go on the road to recovery, but it is all healing time from now on.

I made him aware that his domain name has expired and he will look into getting it renewed.
