The film reminds me of SOLAR CRISIS, a big-budget save-the-sun epic financed by Japanese and American interests in 1990 that was unceremoniously dumped on home video, despite a reasonably big name cast at the time, plus solid visual effects by Richard Edlund and photography by Russell Carpenter.
