"Red Circle" was set up by "Rush Hour" producer Arthur Sarkissian, who personally acquired remake rights from the Melville estate several years ago and previously envisaged "Rush Hour" helmer Brett Ratner as director.

Arthur Sarkissian: cinematic visionary! One can only imagine what Melville would have thought had he lived to see something like that come to fruition! Now Johnnie To, on the other hand...perfect! Hopefully Ratner will hang out on the set to learn a few things from someone with class.
