Those posters are great! I wonder if Samson Chiu could have another GOLDEN CHICKEN-style franchise on his hands? :D

From Sanney's blog on the Hong Kong Film Awards

http://juiyinjong.blogspot.com/

Sir Run Run Shaw (Siu Yat-Fu) was given a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to Hong Kong cinema. The 100 year-old Shaw did not accept the award in person, however, because he was not feeling well enough to attend the ceremony.

They waited until he was one hundred years old before he got a lifetime achievment award? Must be plenty of social/political/cultural controversy around Run Run Shaw but this seems award at this time seems to go into the "why bother" category. His son is probably older than most people who get lifetime achievement awards in any field.

Run Run Shaw was 74 when the HKFA was founded!

Hard to think of anybody that deserves a lifetime achievement award more... surprised he wasn't the first to get one!

Or that the HKFA didn't make him wait until he was 101 or so. :)
