Hong Kong's Maggie Cheung Man- yuk is a very bankable star, reportedly earning an annual salary of US$13.75 million (HK$107.25 million), which makes her the second highest paid Chinese actress after the mainland's Zhang Ziyi, who earns a cool US$15 million a year.

The chances of this being accurate are pretty low--everyone in front of the camera and almost everyone behind it on a set are essentially freelancers who are paid by the picture, they don't get a yearly salary.

But if it were true and given that Maggie Cheung Man-Yuk doesn't make movies anymore--Sausalito, In the Mood for Love, Hero, Clean between 2000 and 2004, nothing since 2004--it would be fitting and appropriate.

Because it would mean that she was getting paid a startling amount of money by no one in particular for simply being Maggie Cheung.

Odd how one never sees a picture of them together--almost as if they were the same person...

or

It's a good deal for the producers--they get both of them for just one salary.... :)

or

Don't you think it is time for Tony to stop depending so much on Ka Fai...

Well, Kamloops IS a comparitively small city, so one has to be somewhat forgiving of their local newshacks!

Otherwise, I guess we now know who really made Tony famous:

:D

(of course, the paper I work for, in a city double the size of Kamloops and basically a suburb of Toronto, ran a gigantic headline banner across the top of the front page stating "RAMI delivers in Spider-man 3" or some such silliness. )
