"TRUTH OR DARE" sequel

Barbara Wong Chun Chun yesterday expressed after Christmas
she would start production on a sequel to TRUTH OR DARE: 6th FLOOR REAR FLAT (LOK LAU HAU JOR) with Fama, I Love You Boy'z, Elanne Kong Yuek Lam and Mainland actors Tian Yuan and Kwok To. Karena Lam Ka Yun would guest star. Wong Chun Chun said, "In the story Tian Yuan came from Beijing and moved with a group of Hong KOng youth into 6th floor rear flat. Cantonese would be inevitable so she would come to Hong Kong to learn Cantonese in a few days."

Back then the film was a hit, why did she not start a sequel right
away? Wong Chun Chun said, "Back then the film company indeed has asked me to start the sequel right away. I tried several screenplays and none were satisfactory. I didn't want to make a movie just for the sake of making a movie."

Andrew Lau's "Flock"

Director Andrew Lau Wai Keung yesterday met with the press
and prooted his first foreign film FLOCK. Last night the premiere took
place in Hong Kong. Lau Wai Keung expressed, the film's Hong Kong release on the 29th would be earlier than the U.S. release. Although he is a Hong Kong director for his first Hollywood film he did not have to make an action film. In addition he could edit in Hong Kong. The film would not
be released until December in the U.S. Was he afraid of piracy? Lau Wai
Keung said that the U.S. intellectual property protection was better and
he was not worried.

The film was similar in subject with Hong Kong film MAD DETECTIVE
(SUN TAM). Lau Wai Keung felt that he was not afraid of comparison as
ultimately his starred foreigners.

Lau Wai Keung today would head to the U.S. for a athletic
product ad. Later he would attend the premiere. Then he would start
preparation on STORM RIDERS 2 (FUNG WON 2 JOI GEIN MO MING) and WATER MARGIN (SHUI FU JUEN). Would Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Dior Cheng Yi Kin star in STORM RIDERS 2? He said that he would approach them. As for PangShun's interest in STORM RIDER, Lau Wai Keung pointed out that even if Pang Shun started production he would not stop them from accepting it. Asfor WATER MARGIN, he thought about casting Andy Lau Tak Wa, Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Shu Qi. However the budget was not 2 billion but just 100 million.

Good to see this getting such a positive response all around. When I caught it at the festival in September, I thoroughly enjoyed it (minor flaws and all)—and I still think the idea of a character being able to see human manifestations of the multiple personalities that control us (and they him) was a stroke of genius ideally suited to the cinema—but had to wonder if it was maybe too esoteric/eccentric to find a wider audience. Looks like it's got legs (and I suppose the old Lau Ching-wan/Johnnie To magic doesn't hurt either). During the Q&A session with To and Wai afterward, you'd almost think they considered the picture a tossed-off quickie between bigger personal projects! Perhaps they were just being cagey. . .
