YASMIN Ahmad’s film Muallaf (The Convert), which has yet to hit the cinemas here, is already making waves abroad.
It recently picked up a Special Mention Award for the Best Asian-Middle Eastern Film category at the 18th Tokyo International Film Festival.
Yasmin’s feature film debut, Sepet, won the Best Asian Film at the festival some years back.
“This is the first time that the category is expanded to include Asian and Middle Eastern film entries,â€
