In English credits almost always 國 is romanized as Kwok but actually is Gwok.

That is the problem-

And in mandarin is Guo, so your problem will be always there.

Also, note that the mdbg.net converter tool is a primarily a character pronunciation guide not a romanization guide, hence the tone notations.

Heinz does have a point.
They should be standardized to Kwok, even though the pronounciation is actually closest to Gwok.
Anyone volunteering to change them all over ?

If we are taking a vote, I vote AGAINST total standardization of this name.

The point is that there are many undiscovered double entries because of the different spellings - If I browse the name list I always find some, but
maybe we don't that mind all those double entries...?

While I'd agree that most/all of the Gwoks should probably be Kwoks (if not Guo or Kuo), count me also against across the board standardizations. Too draconian, and leads down the slippery slope of other standardizations in the name of simplicity.

As for searches, imo, the Chinese name should always be final criterion. It's a simple matter to cut and paste and use the Big5 search box. Aliases can be added/updated as needed.
