DB Title Addition: LEGEND ABOUT HUNTING GHOST 2 (2002)

Postby Brian Thibodeau » Sun Mar 04, 2007 12:38 am

This little gem is part of a series of FIVE ( ) "documentaries" from 2002 that are about as convincing as THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, and it's likely the producers knew it because they hired three "hostesses" for each film who not only express their opinions on the paranormal while modelling swimwear by the pool, but don some of the sexiest ghost-hunting outfits you've ever seen! Great stuff. Despite the "warning" on the VCD sleeve, these are pretty tame, probably no worse than a Category II.

The full english title of this entry, according to the few online retailers that stock this series, is LEGEND ABOUT HUNTING GHOST: HORROR NIGHT.

Enjoy... ;)

You and me both, my friend. You and me both.

This installment was reasonably amusing in its straighfaced approach to a ridiculous concept, moreso due to the fact that "Tim Tam"—who actually seems to believe in the stuff he's shoveling—basically drags his hostesses out to "haunted" environments (like a haunted lake, where they have to wear swimsuits again) in the wee hours of the morning when they're beyond tired, and then yells something like "What was that?!?" at a bubble in the lake or a squeak in an old house, which whips everyone into a frenzy as they rush away from the scene thoroughly convinced they've witnessed the paranormal. Priceless!

Another weird quirk they use to punch up the "verite" style is the pointless waving of flashlights at the actresses. I assume they thought this would lend some documentary-style immediacy to the event but it just looks retarded. You can actually see one of the lights flashing on the side of the middle girl's head in the shot I posted above (the one where all three of them are wearing red tops).

And somehow, Bearserk, I just knew you'd be the first to respond. It appears Buyoyo stocks all five!

hehe

They just look so, so... fantastic :D
Unfortunately it seems the second installment in the series, which would mean this, is OOP  , hopefully I will be able to get the others, allthough I wouldn't be suprised to see some of them go OOP once I place an order on them, already had a few cancellations of titles on my other orders.

Sounds really neat and cheesy

I love that cover! If there were any justice in the world it would win a prize for "Best design using devices that ward off ghosts/vampires" from a prestigious graphics arts organization.

All five of these boast some nice photoshop work on the sleeves. Plus, the modelling sessions for them—well at least for part 2, so far—are incorporated into the films as well!

Resurrecting this old chestnut due to finding these being advertised by a grocer in one of our papers this weekend. Kinda makes me wonder if "Tim Tam", the host of this series, uses an alias  :

Still, I think Mr. Tam (or is it Mr. Tim?), in light of his body of work and its country of origin, has a much better reason to adopt a pseudonym. ;)

And, apparently, they have:

Although Tim Tams are not a rarity in Singapore's supermarkets, the only ones they stock are the Original and maybe the Double Coat variety
http://bakingescapades.blogspot.com/200 ... -dark.html

Whatever they are, they sure seem to have their fans.

Ah, in the US o' A, the World Market chain carries them simply under the Arnott's name. Globalism rears it's head again!

And just this month,Target, too.

And, Brian, according to Wikipedia: In Canada, Tim Tams are imported and sold by the Loblaws chain of supermarkets

It was indeed a Loblaws ad in our paper, now that I think of it! Might have to pick up a pack of these little treats tomorrow. Now if I could just figure out a good program to watch with them . . . :D

Well, FOUR MONTHS LATER and I finally find these damned things! Loblaw's turned up empty; not sold out, just not in stock at any near me. Tried a few other places over the months to no avail. I was thinking it would have been faster to have one of our Australian contribs mail be a package. Then today, down in Chinatown, I pop in to a small grocery store I've never been in before, and bam, there they were. 8) I'm probably too green to attempt the "Tim Tam Slam" as its called; I fear I'll have the chocolate coming out my ears.

They are indeed quite tasty.

Pepperidge Farms' Tim Tams are back at Target. Noticed them today when I was shopping. Apparently still only a seasonal offering. Tim Tams = Holidays! But at $3.00+ for a tiny package, I've resisted, so far.

Business Wire:
Last winter, Pepperidge Farm created an unprecedented cookie craze when it brought Australia’s favorite cookie, Tim Tam, to the U.S. for a limited time. Americans immediately understood why this iconic and delectable chocolatey ‘biscuit’ made by bakers at Arnott’s, a sister company of Pepperidge Farm1, has been so loved by Aussies for more than 40 years. Now, Pepperidge Farm is pleased to announce Tim Tam cookies will return for a limited time each year between the months of October and March!

The number one chocolate biscuit in Australia, Tim Tam cookies are truly irresistible! Beneath a smooth layer of heavenly chocolate fudge, between two layers of crispy biscuits, a mouthwatering layer of chocolate crème awaits. Pepperidge Farm is pleased to offer Tim Tam cookies in three decadent varieties. Chocolate Crème and Caramel are available at major supermarkets and grocery stores nationwide. And, making its debut this year, new Tim Tam Classic Dark will be offered exclusively in Target stores across the country.

To help spread the word about the return of Tim Tam cookies, Pepperidge Farm has partnered with one of the cookies’ biggest and most discerning fans, Gail Simmons, judge of Bravo’s Emmy-nominated show Top Chef. “I can’t tell you how thrilled I am that Tim Tam cookies are back in the U.S.,” said Simmons, a food critic, trained chef, and Food & Wine magazine contributor. “They are such a phenomenon in Australia, where much of my family lives, and now people here have the opportunity to experience a genuine taste of Australia in their own homes. I think people will love sharing Tim Tam cookies with their friends and families this winter…I know I will!”

Gail is providing consumers in New York City with an extra sweet treat on Wednesday, October 14th at 12:30p.m. when she will open one of the first cases of Tim Tam cookies to make its way to American soil at South Street Seaport’s Pier 17 and share the contents with fans.

Consumers will have additional opportunities to celebrate their love of Tim Tam cookies through various activities on http://www.ILoveTimTamCookies.com. Tim Tam fanatics are asked to share their passion by uploading a personal photograph or video. Each month, one photograph submission winner and one video submission winner will be awarded the ultimate prize: A Tim Tam cookies party pack including a free case of the delicious cookies, a single-use disposable camera, coffee mugs and a $10.00 music gift card, all of which will help set the scene for the ultimate Tim Tam celebration. Aside from the contest, consumers can use the web site to connect with others who share a love for the cookies, learn about becoming Tim Tam Facebook fans and Twitter followers, and even sign up for exclusive email updates from Pepperidge Farm.

“In keeping with the tradition of our founder, Margaret Rudkin, Pepperidge Farm is thrilled to offer Tim Tam cookies to American consumers. Margaret searched the globe to bring back delectable cookies and crackers to the U.S. that are now beloved icons to Americans, much like Tim Tam biscuits are to Australians,” said Brian Immel, Business Director, Adult Snacks at Pepperidge Farm. “We are excited to bring these scrumptious cookies back for the many Americans who enjoyed them last year, as well as to introduce Tim Tam to additional consumers through an extended release and broader distribution this winter.”

Fans are also encouraged to follow Pepperidge Farm on Twitter at http://twitter.com/PepperidgeFarm to learn about Tim Tam tweet-ups and sampling events in New York city that will take place at the many Australian-themed restaurants and bars throughout the city in late October and November.

Pepperidge Farm® Tim Tam® cookies are available from October 2009 through March 2010. Tim Tam Chocolate Crème and Caramel cookies are sold at major supermarkets, grocery stores and mass merchandisers nationwide. Tim Tam Classic Dark cookies are sold exclusively in Target stores nationwide. All three varieties are sold with a suggested retail price of $3.39. Oh, you'll give in, my friend. You will.

See, up here Tim Tams, by my hard-earned estimation, are just another cookie on the shelf at the Lucky Moose (where crime sorta kinda doesn't pay!), but in America, this year, they're the second coming of Jesus! And if no less a luminary than Gail Simmons is thrilled about them, then goddammit, you should be too! :D

Seriously, can you think of a better Christmas Eve than one spent with family, some fresh hot cocoa, a few boxes of Tim Tam Classic Dark®, and the adventures of their namesake and his bikinied ladyfriends in the LEGEND ABOUT HUNTING GHOST series playing on your wall-mounted plasma? Yeah, I didn't think so.

I'm getting weak in the knees already. I didn't see the dark chocolate only the chocalate creme variety. Yeah, I'll buckle this year. Now if I could win the contest and get a party pack!
