Yu is the proper transliteration.
Are you saying the name of this person has very often been written Tu in credits ?
PS For a long time, this character was recorded here as Tsui. It took us years to gather enough evidence to prove that it was really Yu, then re-label all matching names.
But Tu (could be 涂 or 凃 or 塗) is not the same family name as Yu (余). I haven't done a comprehensive survey of this cinematographer's credits through different movies, but a glance at only the credits uploaded to our DB overwhelmingly shows 'Tu' (
凃, although the TFAI records his name as
涂東鄉) The one credit with 'Yu' (余) is almost certainly a mistake in the credits - it also uses 卿 'ching' instead of 鄉 'hsiang.'
By the way - could I ask you to take a look at
THIS thread? It's about a movie you submitted.
