All looks like the same person to me. 余東卿 and 凃東鄕 are valid aliases since they really show up in their respective credits that way, in addition to 凃東卿 (as credited in Four Encounters.) We could also change his name to Wade-Giles. Any comments?

You mean in English ?
Yu is the proper transliteration.
Are you saying the name of this person has very often been written Tu in credits ?

PS For a long time, this character was recorded here as Tsui. It took us years to gather enough evidence to prove that it was really Yu, then re-label all matching names.

But Tu (could be 涂 or 凃 or 塗) is not the same family name as Yu (余). I haven't done a comprehensive survey of this cinematographer's credits through different movies, but a glance at only the credits uploaded to our DB overwhelmingly shows 'Tu' (凃, although the TFAI records his name as 涂東鄉) The one credit with 'Yu' (余) is almost certainly a mistake in the credits - it also uses 卿 'ching' instead of 鄉 'hsiang.'
