This profile conflates at least two people (possibly more): the director/producer/writer who was born in 1963 and graduated in 1989 (presumably not involved in the film industry before then) and an actor who mostly appeared in Shanghai productions. I can confirm that the actor is in Heavy Traffic and The Lost Jade Incense Burner, but I assume all the other SFS productions up to 1996 are also him. The actor after 1996 might be him, the director or other actors also named Zhang Yuan. I would appreciate some help with this issue.
