Good find. LoveHKFilm's review suggested that Aubrey Lam, one of the writers on MSIB2, may have actually directed the picture, but Kozo's only source was "press coverage" prior to the film's release, but he didn't elaborate. This seemed particularly erroneous when I watched the making-of featurette on the DVD and noticed, quite clearly, a man calling the shots behind the camera, presumably Chung Shu-kai. My own review in the DB actually touches on this confusion, so it's nice to finally be able to write something more concrete (which I'll do once this merge takes place). This mystery male director on the DVD is not interviewed at all, but I'll take a look at the disc again and see if I can get a screencap of his face.

I see one of those is from the making-of doc for BEAUTY AND THE 7 BEASTS. What's the other one from? Should I still dig out MEN SUDDENLY 2 to check the making-of on that?

Cool. Thanks for that. I'm definitely more convinced now. Guess I'll upgrade my review momentarily. I am still a bit puzzled about Kozo's statements regarding Aubrey Lam, though, as they do seem rooted in published reports (or at least rumours). Our DB currently lists Chung Shu-kei as an "executive director" on MSIB2, but the making-of clearly shows him directing at least some portion of the picture. I wonder if Ms. Lam started it, but Chung finished it? I'm speculating, but perhaps she demonstrated an inexperience with comedy midway through the production, and Chung's previous films made him a somewhat better fit? I guess we may never know . . .
