Original language is certainly not Mandarin, it's in fact Taiwan Dialect/Min Nan, don't know how to call the specific dialect 100% correctly, according backcover it's just "Taiwanese ??" (Taiwan Film Institute DVD release).

Although I have no problem with distinguishing Cantonese, Mandarin and Taiwanese, I still can't decide if I should call Taiwanese dialact/language just "Taiwanese", "Min Man/Southern Min" or "Hokkien" or something different. I have heard there are more than just one Taiwanese dialects, and if true, I would not be able to differentiate them.

I found out that HKMDB describes "Taiwan Min Nan Yu" ????? as "Hokkien" in Joseph Kuo's early Taiwanese dialect movies. So I would suggest we stick with "Hokkien" for the Phoenix Sisters too.

This is a rather complicated subject. I am investigating, and will add some updates soon.

I am glad you brought this matter up.

Taiwanese/????? (also Taiwanese Hokkien) and Hakka/???, in addition to Mandarin, will be the languages I have allocated for Taiwan. I do not want to get into subdialects unless it becomes necessary or someone can demonstrate that such distinctions become necessary.

Till now there are 474 films tagged with Hokkien, can You replace them with Taiwanese automaticly? (BTW: None Hakka yet).
As for "Amoy" and "Teochew" - there are numerous films with Amoy/Teochew language entry in Basic Info - how to find them??
Till now we have 16 X Amoy and 14 X Teochew... I suppose the real number is much bigger

????? (Hokkien/Taiwanese) will stay the same.

I will look into Amoy/Teochew.

Yes, Amoy is still a selectable language. Even though it is a Hokkien dialect we will keep it. What film are you referring to?

Again, I always want to move toward more detail, so if we need to add more languages, we will.
