Another star who we know very little about, which is a shame. He actually started his martial arts film career very early, as a child actor in The Invasion [1972] where he got to show some of the skills that would make him a talented leading man. It seems it also gave him a good reputation with HK/Taiwanese directors as he would go on to appear in quite a few co-productions.
Although he had a longer run than Seo Byung-heon (especially if you included his exclusively Korea films), it still would've been nicer to see him in more, similar to Seo he also had great kicks and even some gymnastic skills, they both deserve better recognition. Hopefully my KUPs will help with that to some extent.
He'd already been credited and ID'd in quite a few of his films on HKMDB so there wasn't a huge amount to add on that front, but there was some info to add to his details, a few films to add (though several with no pic) and even a couple of removals:
Hero's Blood [1969] --- there's a lot of info that leads me to this conclusion, but to save time I won't go into detail here, but what it basically comes down to is the names Yu Gwang (劉光 Lau Gwong) and Kang Ryong (江龍 Kong Lung) are either pseudonyms for some of the film's stars (金美芝 Gam Mei-chi is clearly Kim Ji-mi but the Hanja order is mixed up for some reason) but I've no idea who, they don't seem to match anyone. Or they're simply BS names, maybe trying to trick people into thinking others are in the film ala Bruce Le. Either way I've removed those credits.
My Name Is 'Twin Legs' [1982] --- He was credited on both HKMDB and KMDB as being in this film, the Hangul credits are cut off at the sides of the Korean VHS, so some of it comes to guess work. They went with Kang Yong-seok (who is not seen in the film), where it's actually Kang Yong-gyu (who can be seen).
