Mutant Cop was the working title, not sure it has been released yet, though.

Other stuff
?????? (simplified) was the original title.

Fala Chen, and Jiang Yang, ?? (new), Huo Yin, Winnie Leung, also appeared, Venus Keung was cinematographer

Wow! Thanks a lot. I actually interviewed Lisa Cheng, and she didn't know the English title of this movies. I'll put this interview online soon this week. Cheers...

We can add Working Titles as Main English titles in our DB, it does not matter if the movie was released or not.

Here's a poster from 2008 Filmart, so it's probably the currently final title.

But what year? i recommend something like 2099 and a note in the summary to show when it was filmed, but not released. (This could open the door to a slippery slope, to mix a metaphor.)

2099? I really don't wanna wait that long. ;)

Nevertheless, one quote from Ms. Cheng jumped out at me:

LC: I would like to try all different kinds of roles, but I think I'd be better at doing action movies.

I couldn't agree more. As long as she can act--and the evidence so far, scant though it is, suggests she can--I'd have no problem with a revival/updating of the girls 'n guns genre Hong Kong is rightly famous for. Her existing success in a number of fields (and media) guarantees she'd have plenty to fall back on if action movies didn't work out, but if they did, and if they even made a little money and drew fan bases in the east and the west . . . oh, man, would that be a nice little shot of mojo for the industry. The action movie is far from dead in Hong Kong cinema as we all know; it's just been polished up a bit more, and released less often, meaning Lisa Cheng would have a fairly open playing field in which to strut her stuff. "Paging Ching Siu-tung! We finally found one that isn't just a glamour model. Here's the money. Make her shine!"

Should be interesting to see MUTANT COPS, although that title has me wary. It sounds like something Dragon Dynasty would replace a good title with if they released it on DVD in the U.S. Or would that be THE LEGEND OF THE MUTANT COPS?

And good GOD, Frederic, those photos are stunning! Oh yeah, and your interview's pretty good too! (welcome back, again, by the way!)

2099 is a misleading data. Maybe some of the actors and crew will be dead in 2099. Better use 2008 and "Unreleased film" in the summary.

Yikes. I thought that was a typo a couple of posts back! Dennis is truly a man of his word.

Stumbled across Lisa Cheng's channel at YouTube. Good stuff, although she hasn't added much in the last year or more.

I thought again about this topic and now I am sure all actor and crew will be dead in 2099. And all editors of this DB will be dead in 2099 too.

It's the use of a convention, like adding (1), (2) after names or dubbing someone Unknown Actor. We know that that is not 'real' either but it imparts additional information once the usage commonly is agreed upon. It is eye-catching and flags the reader to (possibly) read the (underused) additional notes. If no one wants to adopt this that's fine. It's small potatoes to me.

Now, if you want to talk about aliases vs phonetics...

Ah, I get it now. Still a bit worried that it could just get forgotten for long periods of time and lead to the average user (who doesn't know any better), assuming it was a flub on our part. Perhaps 2009 with the "2009 is an estimated year" that we sometimes put at the bottom of listings?

Well, when I'm thawed from my cryogenic chamber, I will fly to Spain to dance on your grave, sir!

Whereas, we put in 2008, and someone assumes that it was actually released in 2008 and goes hunting for the DVD. Same as when we put pre-release credits and year in, not knowing the final cast or release year...and never going back to correct either because it's been camoflaged as presumably real data. 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other. You did see my original note, right? Why put an estimated year of release at all when it might never be released? That's just as misleading. At this point, it's just as likely to be released in 2010 if it all. :P

This on the heels of the recent example of the TV series, or movie edited down from a series...and not noted. I must have spent half an hour searching for a title that didn't exist for a movie that didn't exist. I know I'm just spitting in the wind...

Can we add titles without years? That would be ideal. Just leave it out until we know for sure, and avoid the "slippery slope" of putting in an "obviously" bogus release date just so it will raise an eyebrow when someone calls up the page. I didn't think we could create DB entries without a year of release, though. :( Otherwise, 2099 it is, I guess. As long as the note about the year of filming remains, that'll help.

Good point. Of course, if this site had half the functionality it needs, most of these things wouldn't be problems at all. How many years will we wait, I wonder?

"Better to light a candle than curse the darkness."

Not allowed to add w/o a release year. If calros prefers 2008, he can change it, but i'm just pointing out the counter argument against it and my line of thinking. Hopefully, it will get a release and resolve itself.
