This is a classic Korean movie! Suspenseful throughout with a rather sad subtextual commentary on the state of North-South Korean relationships and how they really don't need to be the way they are, but have only been made worse by time. It's more of a murder mystery than an action/war film. In fact, there's not much action in it at all. If you want North-South battles on a grander scale, check out TAE GUK GI.

The female lead in JSA is Lee Yeong-ae, who also stars in the director's upcoming SYMPATHY FOR LADY VENGEANCE and is currently in the process of driving me mad with frustration at her inability to stop getting screwed over as the lead character in the hit Korean TV soap opera DAE JANG GEUM (and yet, I can't shut the damned thing off).

Don't know if you've ever seen pictures of the real JSA, but they've recreated it perfectly in the movie.

Well, scubasteve, since you seem to be registering with a multitude of different cinema forums just to post this identical message, I can only conclude that you are another Palm Pictures employee (or the same one) posing as a satisfied or curious consumer to promote your company's releases.

Stop doing that, it's annoying.

If your release of JSA is as bad as your release of Purple Butterfly, god forbid anybody actually be tricked into buying it because of your "marketing".

Or somebody like Brian waste his time giving a thoughtful response to your question, for that matter :p

Yes, but I don't go around asking people if they know what the logo on my shirt is when I know full well what it is - that's deceptive, and I find it offensive :)

No sweat, guys. I've been had in far worse ways.

I don't frequent too many message boards outside of this one. About four in total, and this is the only one I contribute to now, since I like what everyone here is trying to do on behalf of Hong Kong and Asian movies.

Thus, I haven't seen "scubasteve's" posts at other sites or under different names, but if he is just using sites to elicit positive feedback for Palm's releases (which I have to admit I have not seen), I hope they'll at least quote me some day on the press materials. ;)

Something like:

"A classic murder mystery! Suspenseful throughout!"
- Brian Thibodeau, Hong Kong Movie Database

I don't mind shilling, so long as I'm given some credit (or free copies for my local library)

I think that would be reasonable reparation!

Someday, I hope to see Purple Butterfly on video, if it's released properly.

MrBooth is being far too polite.

Just a note to anyone planning on trolling, spamming, or commercializing this forum or any of the resources here: the policy is delete and ban. No discussion. The rules about posting here are clear.

Other than the aforementioned policy enforcement, I will leave the thread as is--basically an ad for this distributor.
