Fourteen Amazons female Supporting actors

Postby heinz Germany » Mon Apr 25, 2011 11:12 am

Added two pictures of actress Ku Chiu-Chin (who had none yet) and made ID of Shen Yi (playing "Shen Ku") For comperation watch her typical hair-style on her forehead... Then changed the role name of Ding Sai (who was actually not playing Shen Ku). Still I can't recall in which movie I have seen that familiar face of the "maid" http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/image_detail ... ay_set=eng , but I am pretty sure seeing her in some old Shaw swordplays already (Just too many to recall each)

ID of the maid as Kwok Chuk-Hing.

I hope you don't mind, but I removed Shen Yi from the cast list.

The HKFA

http://ipac.hkfa.lcsd.gov.hk/ipac20/ipa ... earch&ri=3

and that image

http://www.hkmdb.com/db/movies/image_de ... ay_set=eng

not list Shen Yi in the cast and list Ding Sai/Ting Chien as "Shen Ku"

Is in that case that Ding Sai ID still correct:

?

Your opinion is both pictures show the same actress? (I am sure its not the case) Ding Sai play two roles..?
Anyhow the picture http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/image_detail ... ay_set=eng didn't had any ID until I recognized Shen Yi.
If You compare her hairstyle with Shen Yi Gallery You find its a very typical hairstyle of her on her forehead
(first row pictures 4 and 5, Picture from Sweet and Wild (1966)Song of Tomorrow (1967) Killer Darts (1968)
second picture Gun brothers). I am very confident this is Shen Yi , but maybe the Shen Ku Credit is wrong.

Anyhow I am not as gifted as You, but still i was the person who made ID of Yuen Biao and Eric Tsang in that
movie, so I am probably not that blind for recognition of actors I have interest for...

BTW: I guess You finally added the ID for Kwok Chuk-Hing as Maid, yes that was the actress I could not recall.. Well done

I very appreciate Your huge input, but sometimes it seems there is no truth besides Your truth... Peace brother

Sorry if I did the ID change too fast - I should have asked you before I removed Shen Yi. The HKFA and the credits images look very trustworthy and show no Shen Yi listed.

I check the next days the movie again to look if it is Shen Yi or Ding Sai as "Shen Ku" and to look what image shows the character "Shen Ku". I was not sure if both images show the same character, because of that my question at the end of my last post.

Dear Michel
I have very big sympathy for Your devotion to Your hobby. I must say for somebody who was actually born after most of those movies were released You do such a great job. I should have done in my younger years like You, but things went wrong in life. Anyhow nowadays we have such big possibilities via Internet doing research and connecting with others.
Oh boy if it would have been such easy in the 70s we would have found and saved lots of informations which are very hard to find after 3 or 4 decades now. We need people like "kenichiku" to open their vault of collected treasures we could never have dreamed of to lay our hands on here in the remote corner of Germany. I am more focused on the Shaw Actors and I have a good face memory, but compared to You I am not as devoted as You due to life's hardships I have to endure...
It's such a pity we know so less about many supporting actors who suddenly vanished.... (For example Liu Gang / Lau Gong). He played 41 roles all at Shaws - suddenly ended after "All Men are brothers" where he still had a good part as General and was never again.... Did he suddenly retire or did he die? Strange... Many times I felt we "Gwailos" here at HKMDB are very hard trying to close gaps in actor's bio's but the Chinese themselves seems less interested in the history of their own actors. I always wish to retire from work, settle down in HK and convince the HKFA to join us and open their collection for our research needs. You know we make actors like those unnamed Shaw actors "immortal" by saving their memory for the future, but those who should probably know them personally by name we don't reach them - sadly.
I wounder if the HFKA people have those names if we point out actors with hundreds of appearances but unknown to us.

I wish I had also more time for my Hong Kong movie work.
I appreciate your work and of course the work of the other editors.

Back to FOURTEEN AMAZONS (I hope sometime a full uncut DVD will be released):

I checked my VCD. That image shows the correct "Shen Ku" (no suprise):

http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/image_detail ... ay_set=eng

and that image is (like you said) a different, still unknown actress:

http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/image_detail ... ay_set=eng

The actress of "Shen Ku" resembles the actress Shen Yi, but I still think the Ding Sai ID is correct. In the movie opening titles is the actress Ding Sai listed with the role name "Shen Ku" - as in the HKFA and the cast in the article scan. I trust the credit makers and article writer that they made no mistake. Sorry.
