I noticed that the actor Man Leng

http://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?i ... ay_set=eng

looks like that actor (who is in many movies, often as extra):

Same person??? And is the Man Leng ID a sure thing?

The Man Leng ID has been bugging me lately, too. I think that I have mixed two people up in my mind. He has a credit with character role in The Great Devotion that I can check for a definitive ID this weekend.

I think this is the real Man Leng

I'd say the ears make all those a match (with Bruce's idea of the facial mark match, Zone's I & L)

Saw them a lot in B/W movies. Surely they are two different persons but don't know their names.

A possible name is Chai Lam, who is in that movies with the actor: "Badge 369", "Dark Heroine..." and "Mad World of Fools". I check this weekend "Hooded Swordsman" and "Prodigal Boxer" with the name in the credits. Can anyone check one of the other movies listed at Chai Lam? http://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?i ... ay_set=eng

Man Leng - The Great Devotion postively ID'd

I removed the Man Leng association links to the images in Dark Heroine Muk Lan-Fa and Black Peony

Black Peony

A brighter image from Black Peony whom I misidentfied as Man Leng, looks more like Michael's "Chai Lam". I'll correct the Man Leng credits for Black Peony and Dark Heroine in a few days.

updated cast with you valuable info, but not Chai Lam in the credits.

He’s not Chai Lam. He is only a extra in “Mad World of Fools” and is not in “Hooded Swordsman” and “Prodigal Boxer”.
But I found the real ID of Chai Lam. He is that actor:

http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/image_detail ... ay_set=eng

http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/image_detail ... ay_set=eng

http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/image_detail ... ay_set=eng

http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/image_detail ... ay_set=eng

On that “Dark Heroine…” image he could be the actor at the background:

http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/image_detail ... ay_set=eng

In “Mad World” only Dean Shek, he and a nude actress appear in the first episode and Dean Shek and the name Chai Lam are listed in the cast for that episode.
He and the name are also in “Prodigal Boxer” and “Hooded Swordsman”. A sure ID.

I add in the next few days more movies to Chai Lam.

Man Leng:
It looks for me that the image on “How Master Cute Thrice Saved the Idiot Ming” also shows the unknown actor and not Man Leng.

Right, missed that one. Association and credit removed.

The Chai Lam picture of Lady of the Law should be wrong -

http://hkmdb.com/db/people/image_detail.mhtml?id=16333&image_id=51585&display_set=eng

he looks much too young in comparision with the other pics

I think it's him. But I check my VCD today to be sure. Maybe I was wrong.

By the way I can mention that I think "Lady" is made a few years before the release date (the same is with "The Protectors").

I checked „Lady“ and I still think it’s him. I guess he’s wearing a wig

Hi Michael - When watching all his pics together here
http://hkmdb.com/db/people/images.mhtml ... ay_set=eng

You don't think even in the 1961 picture he looks much older than 1973? And in Mad, Mad Sword (1969) too

For me it looks like the same person (one point are the ears), I watched his scene in "Lady" again.

Maybe a third editor can post his opinion?

Hi,

I think all the images in the Chai Lam gallery are the same person.
