Yuen Clan

I was updating the database and noticed something with the Yuen's, especially Yuen Cheung Yan and Brandy Yuen Jan Yeung. I'm confused here. From watching a Yuen Clan piece many moons ago, for example MIRACLE FIGHTERS. The granny is Yuen Cheung Yan. The guy in the pot with the clown face is Yuen Jun (Chun) Wei (Wai), NOT Yeung. Yuen Chun Wei always doubles for his old man, Simon Yuen. He can be found in the opening scens of DANCE OF THE DRUNKEN MANTIS impersonating Sam Seed. He was in CRYSTAL FIST--1/2 of Blind/Deaf Duo. He was also in BUDDHIST FIST as the undercover, buck toothed Bean Curd Seller.<br><br>In the database, I recommed changing Brandy Yuen Jan Yeung to Brandy Yuen Jan WAI/WEI. <br><br>Silver Fox

I find the Yuen clan a little confusing too. I keep a private database of HK actor names in big5, which indicates Brandy Yuen is Yuen Jan Yeung, and I think my source for this was Joe Fierro's sadly-missed QHK. I've also just looked up www.movieworld.com.hk , which shows Brandy Yuen's third char as Joeng, which is the same as Yeung.<br><br>Ralph Allen's www.beijingvideo.com.au mentions Yuen Chun Wei as one of the Yuen clan, and shows a photo which looks quite a bit like the pot guy. I have been trying to work out, for awhlie, if this is the same guy as Brandy Yuen or not.<br><br>Several problems here -<br>* Some of Ralph's renderings of the names are misleading<br>* Brandy Yuen doesn't seem to have appeared as an actor very much, more often behind the camera as an action director.<br>* Yuen Chun/Jun/Jan Yeung and Yuen Chun/Jun/Jan Wei are definitely different names.<br><br>Can anyone authoritatively clear this one up ?<br><br>
