Bet To Basic (2006): Cast & credits

Some of the end credits are rather hard to read, due to the low budget manner in which the production was achieved (and overall cheapness of the title cards -- they made very poor source material for DVD screen captures, I can tell you!). Bizarrely, there were no onscreen cast and basic crew credits at the head of the film!

Here's the primary cast from the DVD supplementary features:

And here's some bio info on Yuen Wah, who was credited as "Sam Yung" on this film:

the anonymous editor who added your info has done a great job. Added only 4 new actors and 1 bio.-

So Yuen Wah's first film was EASTERN CONDORS, eh?

Bio-writers on HK DVDs are some of the most. I think it's high time these DVD companies started using people who actually CARE to write the bios. I suspect there'd be a lot less revisionism.

Yuen Wah's entry as posted above is comparitively tame when compared to the DVD menu bios of stars whose careers died or never really took off in the first place. Ouch!

...as for the rest of it -- sheesh! You guys aren't critical MUCH, are you?! I never expect these kinds of bio/filmographies ever to be anything much, as they're only produced on the fly for the Hong Kong market; I know most of you were taking the mickey, but...strewth...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say all of us were taking the mickey. The vast majority of us, if not all of us, have seen enough Hong Kong DVD menus to know this is a common occurence dating way, way back. Still, there should be allowances for poking fun at a bio like the one for Yuen Wah - it's ridiculous. And I've seen ones that are far more disparaging to their subjects. I guess in Hong Kong, though, that's OK...

Well, at least the Chin Ka-lok bio is closer to reality, for the most part!

Thanks for the blog plug. Now if I could just find the time to update it!
