131) Kingdom of darkness

Ran into a problem this time: The last character can’t be shown under the English title when displaying the DB in English. What can be done about that I wonder?

There are some other movies that also have problems with the chinese titles, this one for example - http://www.hkmdb.com/db/movies/view.mhtml?id=12440&display_set=eng

Notice: 8 more movies on the 1st page :)

Fixed, the title hadn't been added in Big5-mode.

I absolutely MUST see this! I wanna think it's just a dumb "Mainlander English" title or something like that (depending on where it was shot), but that shot of an actual bathroom beneath the actors has me decidely curious.

Perhaps it's part of a series?

BATHROOM CRISIS: TERROR FLUSHING
BATHROOM CRISIS: STRAINED RELATIONSHIP
BATHROOM CRISIS: HELL OF KIDNEY STONES
STREET KIDS VIOLENCE: BATHROOM CRISIS

Oh geez I gotta see this movie!

I think it's just a dumb english translation, because the meaning of the chinese title is "Bathroom murder as a crime of passion". So I guess it's not THAT crisis :)

Movies 151-155 might be telemovies, but can't say for sure

Hi!
Also got it, and I posted credits. So you can wait another 20 years, before watching this movie, because the movie is really bad

So we've managed to add every one of them now but it wouldn't surprise me if you have even more prepared movie-additions Teddy ;) :)

So, no production year yet, but I hope you'll find it by chinese title.

I couldn't find any sites listing the production year. I found a site where the movie can be watched for free though and in the movie there's a 2001 calendar, so I used 2001 as estimated year.

"Raging youth: Organised crime " - is Shing Fui On really one of the lead characters in this one? He's second billed on the cover! I have to see that one I think....

I'd be wary. Some of these ultra-low-budget DTV flicks put "name" actors above the title, even though they only show up for a few minutes. Don't know with this one, but I've seen it in so many of these kinds of films I've lost count! Still, you never know . . .

Yeah, that seems obvious really. They do that in plenty of DTV American movies too. I don't really have any experience with that market in Hong Kong - is it similar to the American DTV market? That is, 99% garbage with a very rare gem or two in there?

And YM - Thanks for the link!

Not too far from it. I've watched a fair amount of the stuff and it runs the gamut. Some is dire stuff shot by seeming amateurs on what seems like home video cameras. Some stuff can have that "TV movie" feel even though it's not a TV movie. Generally, I find the stuff that really clicks in this arena does so because of a decent screenplay and/or script. If the director/crew has some visual ingenuity, then the whole package can satisfy with a super-low budget. Without one side or the other, you're left with a lot of crap that was probably rushed off in an attempt to get a slice of the dying home video market of the day, and keep a few familiar faces in gainful employment. Still, it's a lot of slogging just to find those gems. But the gems are even more remarkable when you consider that, like Hong Kong's "big budget" films, they still cost significantly less than similar direct-to-video "junk" being made in the west.
