Yes, that was always my understanding of what the word meant to - but it does seem to be used a lot for any brief appearance.

So, anyone for a distinction such as [brief] for lesser actors and [cameo] for famous ones ?

Well, I'm all fine for a standard. If we are going to go by the dictionary, visit www.m-w.com. The definition for cameo is (see #4):
4 : a small theatrical role usually performed by a well-known actor and often limited to a single scene; broadly : any brief appearance

Is there a wrong way or right way to use cameo here? I guess I have been using the "broad" terminology b/c some guys, such as Yuen Biao, appear so often in the flick in various background roles that I just use "cameo" and then refer to the role that I believe is easy to ID him in. If you say Yuen Biao was a background fighter, that may be true, but where in the movie did you see it? Some would have a hard time finding him. Now if you say [cameo] throwing a knife, then one would look for a scene with a knife thrower.

Silver Fox

Changing every cameo entry in the Db ? That's a mountainously massive job. Myself, SFox and Bruce all have huge amounts of data still to be entered, which must take priority over relatively minor alterations such as cameo/brief status.

Sherry, if you were to be made an editor (it isn't within my power to make happen, I'm just asking), would you take it on as a task ?
