He was a very tricky one to ID too, one of the ones I really struggled with. Back then I was struggling to tell whether he was the bearded monk or the non-bearded monk in Martial Monks, it hadn't clicked back then how blatantly the Koreans would just slap a beard on an actor and say he's a completely different main character So for ages I thought they were two actors who looked very similar, little did I know how deep it went in that film, he actually plays no less than 6 roles It was a similar situation with South Shaolin, just a beard throwing me off and again playing several other roles.
Now I've become a bit of a shark when it comes to spotting multi-roles, as some may have noticed on my other Korean Updates Projects
Then there was his early uncredited roles in Enter The Invincible Hero and Dreadnaught Rivals, where I kept looking at this guys face saying I know him from somewhere. It took a while to finally click, thinking about it though, it probably didn't help that I had lower quality DVDs of both those films at that time. Oh well.
Sadly he's another that there's very little info on even though he had some prominent roles through to the mid 90s. It doesn't help that any attempts to research him lead to info about the famous Korean hero/gangster and main character of many martial arts films, who shares his name. He had great kicks and and skill with weapons. But he was also one of the more talented gymnasts of his generation within the Korean film industry. It seems he was a favourite of Wang Ho (Casanova) who used him in 5 of his 6 projects as a director.
He was already credited on: Martial Monks Of Shaolin Temple; Dragon Claws; South Shaolin Vs North Shaolin; and Sword Of Evil Power. But no IDs yet. I'm thinking in the back of my head that I might have merged two pages: Kim Doo-han and Doo-hwan in my early days on HKMDB, but I can't be sure. But anyway, I've added new Hanja and Hangul and gender but that's about it, not even a DOB, kinda sad. Obviously I've added IDs for all of his films on the HKMDB and tagged Gaijin's for Martial Monks and Dragon Claws pics too.
