Back to the subject.........

The trick with Bad Movies is, really bad including obscure stuff, or well-known Bad Movies ?

The HK film I detest the most is ChungKing Express (this is sure to provoke strong defences from its many fans). Not because it's a truly awful film, but because it's an unremarkable film with several very irritating features (e.g. was it really necessary to play parts of California Dreamin' Seven times ?!) which is nevertheless praised to the skies by a large number of film critics.

And now, assuming anyone bothers to read further, here's a few real clunkers.

Amorous Woman of the Tang Dynasty (slow and a bit pretentious)

Game They Called Sex (A movie starring Maggie Cheung needs to be truly awful to put me off)

Golden Swallow (1987) (Worst CGS Clone I've had the misfortune to see)

Pretty Girl (1991) (An obscure Joey Wong film, which fully deserves to remain that way)

The Lovers (1994) (Tsui Hark's only truly dull movie)

Mr Mumble (Atrociously dull. Billed as City Hunter 2, based on same character, but nothing in common except the char's name)

Once Upon A Rainbow (Incredibly muddled take on "Fame")

Peeping Tom (Opens with an unseen man stripping and raping a girl. I tuned out after he marked her upper thighs with texta, then chainsawed them off. Ugh !)

Temptation of a Monk (The film which finally turned me off Clara Law's films. See comment for Amorous Woman Of Tang Dynasty.)

That'll do for a start.

I really DID NOT LIKE:

1. Ashes of Time (even though I've continued to watch it more than any other movie, mainly due to its attractive and unforgettable music)

2. Shanghai Triad (too slow)

3. Zu Warriors from Magic Mountain (the English dub just killed it)

4. Swordsman

5. Legend of the liquid sword (the plot - where the hell is it?)

6. God of Armour II: Operation Condor - possibly the most irritaging Jackie Chan movie ever. Again, the English dub is most horrible, but then again you can probably say that about all JC movies. I would never even go see 90% of his movies anyway, especially having read all the negative reviews about a lot of them.

7. Master Wong vs Master Wong - so pointless. watched 3 minutes or so and never again

8. Sword of Many Loves - no plot, no action, made absolutely no sense, bad acting, tons of brutality. Go see it for that feeling of disappointment!

9. [I'm not sure about the title of this one. Sounds like Deadend of Besiegers but I couldn't be sure. Anyway, WORST PLOT, even worse than ASHes of TIME - IMAGINE THAT!! Made NOOOOO sense for the fighting, which certainly didn't impress me any.]

...And you wouldn't believe how bad some movies were that I saw in China. You would never even see half of them ever released on VCD, but you can see them in Asia.

LOL. In case you haven't heard, STSH is very into Cat III/erotic flicks. Well, the nudity part is all right by me, but the violence/rape/brutal scenes, I just CANNOT tolerate. I would never go watch something like "Men Behind the Sun" or "Story of Ricky", just because of their containing violent elements. I've even changed my mind about some Shaw Bros kung fu movies where I've heard sayings about how much violence is present in the movies, like One-Armed Swordsman and Heroic Ones. I just do not want to see all the bloodshed and killing going on, especially not with swords and blades which I think should be used for the benefit of action entertainment only, not brutality. Fighting is all right, killing is another story. My mom is especially not fond of Chow Yun Fat/John Woo's shoot-em-sideways movies, but I don't know what she would say had she seen some of the much more violence-contained films.
