Lin Dai

I have only seen Lin Dai in THE KINGDOM AND THE BEAUTY so far. What a great film! She really milks the pouting thing for all it's worth. It seems like she does this in every film. I hope to get LES BELLES soon. It looks quite good. Sad that she (and so many other Shaw stars) died young. Is it known why she decided to kill herself? It sounds like she was a HUGE star, but I guess that doesn't equal happiness.

The first thing I saw Ivy Ling Po in was THE THREE SMILES and I was not impressed with her or the movie. It was nice that the DVD included an interview with her, though. Later I saw THE GRAND SUBSTITUTION and while she does not have as large a roll in it, I thought she and the film were excellent. Can anyone suggest a good movie of hers were she plays a woman?

Lily Ho is fantastic. Always charismatic and able to make a so-so movie (like THE VENUS' TEAR DIAMOND) watchable. I've seen her in several Inoue Umetsugu films and enjoyed seeing her with Cheng Pei-pei in HONG KONG NOCTURNE and PRINCESS IRON FAN. I am very much looking forward to seeing THE LADY PROFESSIONAL.

I stand to be corrected, but I though that Ivy Ling Po was more famous for her male roles. However, I'd be interested on recommendations for her best female role, too.
