If you like the movie, you owe it yourself to read the book.
I like the movie enough, but the book is just, well, it is mind blowingly incredible. A MUST READ!

Yeah, I have been following the manga as well. The manga is cool and it is more true to the book, but it takes the violence and sex to a new extreme. I like how they add character backstory that is very much appropriate and believeable.

When I first saw the movie I just hated it. I had read the book a few weeks prior and I just couldn't take how they had depicted Kazou Kiriyama in the movie. I also loathed the invented 'disgruntled teacher' character. The character of Sakamochi in the book was SO much better. Also the ending of the film was a complete mess. With that painting the teacher painted and just, jeez. When you read the incredible way the book ended. I just didn't get why they would change it that much.

I did watch the film again recently and I enjoyed it much more, but the end still made me cringe. Ugh, that painting was just too much.

I like how they depicted Kiriyama in the manga. They perfectly captured his character and just how absolutely hardcore he is. I just hate having to wait until like November for Tokyopop to put out the last volume.
