Seven theatres carried Kung-Fu Hustle in LIMITED RELEASE. The movie goes much, MUCH wider either this weekend or next (can't remember). The per-screen average in those seven screens has apparently given Sony an indication that this will do OK in a wider release. Commercials and trailers for it are all over the place over here and the studio is sponsoring various radio programs (most notably the top rated Howard Stern show) over here. I'm sure it won't debut at number one, but it looks set to do respectable numbers. Rumble In The Bronx was a well-timed late-winter fluke, as nearly all Jackie's other Asian movies released in the U.S. (not including Rush Hour) after it attested, with decreasing returns. I think Chow could make a real dent with KFH.
