Anybody know anything about this very cool actor?

On the Yuen Bun interview on ACGS3 he mentions that Lau Shun and Lau Siu Ming were very easy to work with because they were so experienced, but according to our DB Lau Shun's first film was ACGS2 in 1990.

Was he a kung fu master who got into films late in life, or are there a whole load of films that he should be credited in? Did he use a different name before 1990?

Found myself wondering if he might be Lau Kar Leung's father, who I've generally seen referred to as Lau Charn in English... I doubt that's the case, but it would be cool to know if it was!

Agreed! I don't have Dragon Inn on DVD with me at my current address (in storage at my mother's place), but I do want to get screenshots up because it's such a beautiful film! I'll try to dig it out when I'm back home, though currently my DVDs are all buried under furniture in my mother's garage

He probably did start his career late. He's in his mid 50's now.

My favorite role of his is the Taoist in Jacob Cheung's Cageman (1992).

hey,

thanks for mentioning Cageman as that really is a standout performance in a movie with so many of them. He speaks Mandarin in that I believe, synch sound.

Once Upon A Time In China III is an excellent showcase for him as well.

Sounds like I'll have to track down CAGEMAN, which I've never even heard before... is it out on DVD?

I believe it's on vcd only. I have the Universe release but it looks like it's currently a Mei Ah release.

One of the Below the Lion Rock episodes, Sunrise,Sunset reminded me of Cageman.

hey,

correct. Mei Ah did the vcd. Good quality as far as vcd goes. Don't let the Cat III rating fool you into that it's a smut fest.
