These are the titles I bought from the past year of Hong Kong cinema (I don't consider
Fearless,
A Battle Of Wits or
The Curse Of The Golden Flower "Hong Kong" movies...simply because they weren't! They were all Mainland Chinese films, some with limited investment from Hong Kong or involvement of HK film industry folk, but they were all majority Mainland productions, financed with majority Mainland money and even post-synched in Mandarin, the primary Mainland language du-jour. Thus, I haven't counted those three films).

1. The ones in bold type were the ones I actually managed to watch.
2. The ones with an asterisk next to them are the ones I'd feel were worth a recommendation (solely based on personal opinion, of course)
I bought all of these titles because I just don't have access to a Chinese language cinema in my part of the world, and with most HK DVDs working out at much less than the cost of a cinema ticket it's a bit of a no-brainer for me. Taking a chance on a movie, sight unseen, through DVD purchase -- at equal or less expenditure than a standard cinema ticket -- isn't much of an issue to me; I figure even if the film turns out a dud, at least I got to see it and make my mind up for myself.
