The One Armed Swordsman and violence in kung fu movies

The One Armed Swordsman has been billed as the first HK movie to use graphical violence. However, after seeing many movies made before it, I can't see the difference. Take Come Drink With Me for instance, the finale is ultraviolent and included tons of blood letting. Magnificent Trio, made a year before, also contained furious slaughters. So I'm unsure of the contribution of the One Armed Swordsman to violence.
