I'm trying to find a film that i saw about 6 yrs ago (although I'm sure it was made in the early 1990s). It was a swordsman/drama set in Dynasty period and starred Jacky Cheung Hok-yau (with long hair) as the lead charcter.

All I can remember of the actual film is at the beginning where he is seperated from his lover by some divine cosmic force (perhaps it was a Chinese deity). Similarly I remember an image of Jacky riding on his horse and a huge moon in the background.

I'm quite sure this is 'A Chinese Legend', can anyone whose seen the film let me know if it is or not :)

If it has Joey Wong in it then it is quite possible...if it doesn't then it isn't...

Yes this is definitely 'A Chinese Legend'. Very inspired by 'A Chinese Ghost Story' but actually quite enjoyable. The scene you describes is from a dream where Jacky gets a piece of of Joey Wongs bracelet before they are divided. I have also seen the film described as 'Moon Legend' .... maybe because of Joey Wongs character name Moon-cher.

I actually remember Jacky as riding towards a gigantic sun in the beginning of the film ... but I could be wrong.

cheers
Henrik

I remember Chinese Legend for fantastic soundtrack and pretty decent art design. The movie that you're describing is 99 percent Chinese Legend.

100%

it's definitely A Chinese Legend. I used to own it a few years back and my sisters watched it every day. :D hope that helps.
