I'd like to hear how people choose the HK films they watch. Considering HK is the world's third-largest film producer (by number of films, behind India and the US), the sheer number of films is staggering. How on earth does anyone decide ?<br><br>

Well, I used to be a little pickier. I went to a bunch of sites on HK movies (this is a good example) and selected a few that really intrigued me (especially kung fu/martial arts of course). Nowadays though, I'm on the search for just about any martial arts movie, and I'll probably get anything that I can find because there isn't a whole lot left out there that I haven't heard of or seen. As opposed to before where I was real careful about what I wanted to get. For instance, dispite all the praise I heard about Drunken Master II, Fong Sai Yuk, Hard Boiled, A Better Tomorrow, Once Upon A Time in China and Fist of Legend, I refused to get these classics until I ran out of selections! I do wish I had gotten them earlier though, because they really were as good as they were said to be.<br><br>At this point, I have a friend who's got a very good list of kung fu/action movies, including Shaw Bros oldies and some up-to-date movies like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. So I just look at the list and if something sounds interesting to me I do a search on the title here and if I think I'm gonna like it, I'll get it Although a lot of times you can't many titles on this or any other site. But overall I use HKMDB for the majority of my choice of HK movies.<br><br>

SBates, how about writing a review for Trail ? That's a film which has been on my "I'll get around to it sometime" list for quite awhile. It only has one review, which is a plot descrip from Taiseng.<br><br>PJ, you've seen nearly every old fu film ? Wow, you've gotta lotta reviews to write, so the rest of us can better choose what to watch/avoid <br><br>

Great ! This is just the sort of info which I, for one, am desperately seeking. I'd love to skip past the crap (well, I know I'll still cop some of it) to the better stuff.<br><br>To add movies yourself, you need to convince Dave and Ryan (it's finally Ryan's decision) to give you Editor access. I don't know of anyone who was given Editor access in the previous 15 months, until a couple of days ago, when pjshimmer announced he'd got it.<br><br>I certainly hope this is a sign that the guys are going to start giving editor access to more people because, as you've already implied, there are just tons of old movies which still need to be added, and plenty of actors to be added to the existing ones.<br><br>When (if?!) you get it, you need to have the film's title (preferably the chinese title too, in big5 format) and the year or production or release.<br><br>In the meantime, keep adding reviews to those old and unreviewed fu films which are already here. There are lots, just languishing without attention.
