Just FYI, a high priority item to add to the database will be award info. Not only for each movie, but on a by-year basis as well.

Thanks for the link.I felt like making a couple of observations on HK's Film Awards.

The winningest (Is that a word?) film in the history of the event goes to Comrades, Almost a Love Story & Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Which suprised me since I hear so many asians downing CTHD.

Only 1 movie ever swept the big 4 (Picture, Director, Actor & Actress). That was Summer Snow. A movie I have never seen but will try to see it now.

Maggie Cheung has won 5 Best Actress awards. WOW!
No one else Actor or Actress has more than 3.

1999 was a great year for HK film. But the winner of Best Picture went to Ordinary Heroes, a movie I inexplicably never heard of. Have you guys seen it?
What did you think?

Lastly in 1988, Rouge won 7 out of 14 awards given for a winning pct of 50%. I know of no film that has equaled this feat.

Being a westerner I'm not sure if the HK film awards are the equivalent of the Academy awards here in the US. Are they? Or is another award show more prominent?

First, 1999 was indeed a good year, but in the award i disagree on the best actress, Law Lan in bullet over summer part was not even the leading role, she just got a supporting role. Also i think Running Out of Time should have win the best movie award. Also King OF Comedy was screw in that award.

Yes the HK film award is the equivalent to the Oscar...

i'm chinese so i know

The links you provided do not show all the awards nor all the nominations...

Anybody knows one site which shows all the awards and moninations of the HKFA from 1981 :?:

I had the list, printed from the old Hong Kong Movie Database (1998) but I lost one part of it
