Looking for a miracle

I'm trying to find a movie I saw nearly 30 years ago in a triple feature with 5 Fingers of Death. So it must have been made about the same time. I really don't remember much except for 1 scene, I believe early in the film where 2 men challenge each others sword skill. The first man takes 1 swing and chops a flower in 2. The second man swings but his flower doesn't move. The 1st man laughs as if he won. The second man blows at the flower and it falls over. I know its not much to go on but you guys are the most knowledgable fans out there. If you can't get it no one can.

I could be totally off base but isn't there such a scene in Challenge of the Masters?

It really sounds familiar - I think it's in one of the more recent Celestial remasters, but I don't remember which. Golden Swallow maybe?

Someone else told me that it was one of the films that has been remastered by Celestial but they couldn't remember the title. I was on yesasia.com for 3 hours trying to see if I could figure it out but the synopsis there were very generic. Oh well, guess I'll be buying every martial art release until I find it. You can't go wrong watching a bunch of Shaw Brothers classics anyway. I don't believe it's Challenge of the Masters although you it was a long time ago.

Yeah, the synopsis (synopses? synopsises?) on the Celestial DVDs are pretty useless most of the time - probably because they're written by Ric Meyers, who is quite famous for "improvising" the facts for movies he may or may not have seen :p

But, there are certainly worse prospects than going through all the Shaws martial arts titles :D Try Golden Swallow and The Thundering Sword, which were two of the more recent ones I saw that might have had that scene. I watched the first half hour of Challenge Of The Masters twice already, but for some reason can't stay awake past 30-40 mins of it :p

You know its funny you say that. I own about 50 Shaw Brothers titles but not COTM because I remember being bored by it when I saw it at a friends house a few years ago. I nodded off during it also. Maybe I'll pick up the Celestial release of that also.

LOL, maybe Celestial should hire us to write the back of their DVD cases:

"Not sure what this was about - it looked quite interesting but I fell asleep in the middle"

And yet it would *still* be better than what Ric Meyers usually writes
