Briefly, please state which Shaw Bros films you think are great, and why.

I've just discovered a little treasure trove - a DVD rental store with about 200 of the Shaw DVDs.

*heh heh heh*
*rubs hands with glee*

Now, where to start ?!

Also, I've noticed that a number of these fine films have NO REVIEWS. SHAME !!!!!!! I know that some of you have seen these movies. Why are you not sharing your views with those of us still to be educated ?!

Get onto it, guys and gals !!!!!

The impression I get from various forums regarding the Shaw library is that they're coming out so fast that people just can't afford to buy them all - or find the time to watch them even if they can! I have literal stacks of them just waiting to be watched - over 225 Shaw discs and counting (plus a couple hundred other HK films), and I've watched only THREE to date! The plan is to settle in this winter and start plowing through these and other DVDs that have been piling up all year while I've been attending to other things in my life. As great as they are, relationships force a lot of good s**t on to the back burner. Sigh.....

That said, I CAN highly recommend COME DRINK WITH ME (1966).....not that that's much help, I suppose.

I too am wading through the Shaw Library, but am lucky enough to use Nicheflix.com to rent them instead of a purchase. The only problem is I tend to spend 3x the amount of time updating and adding the film's info to the database as I do watching it. Tends to slow the process...

On the subject though, I highly recommend "Heroes of the East" and "Invincible Shaolin."

I wish I could use Netflix and Nicheflix and all those sites, but to the best of my research, they won't send outside the U.S. Up here in Canada, we have an online rental service called zip.ca which rents tonnes of DVDs, so long as they're Region 1! No rule-benders there, so IVL Shaw Brothers movies are a non-entity at their site. Plus, I've heard mixed reviews about the quality of their discs when you receive them.

In Toronto, you can rent many of the Shaw flicks from the myriad hip little rental shops that dot the city, but I've found an increasing number of those are bootlegs because the city crawls with them and they're easy to find. But since I live three hours away from Toronto, it's generally not too much more expensive just to stock up whenever an online retailer has a sale on them. Finding the time to watch everything, now THAT'S a bit of a bother...

Where I like you to be.
Great stuff, mate.
I've thrown all these reviews into Excel and sorted them, for ease of use. Anyone else like a copy for reference ?
