Brian, thanks for the links...I had already checked out "Chop Sockey Cinema" during its initial run on IFC but aside from that every thing else was new. God bless YouTube. I only had time to sit through the Celestial Pictures restoration clip which proved to be a pleasurable quicky. I would be interested in seeing some thing more in-depth and elaborated upon in the future, however.

I don't remember where it's at but a couple months ago I saw a tribute to Alexander Fu Sheng on YouTube that was subtitled. Apparently produced for television it contained archival clips, photos of the car Fu Sheng was killed in, footage of the funeral, and an interview with Ti Lung who revealed that he drew inspiration from his real-life relationship with Fu Sheng for his onscreen pairing with Leslie Cheung in "A Better Tomorrow." Very sad.

Speaking of YouTube and the Shaw Brothers I think in a few instances you can watch an entire Shaw Bros. film in Mandarin with English subtitles on YouTube if you know where to look though I've never tried it. While I have a laptop, I don't have a wireless connection to relocate to a more comfortable viewing area and my computer chair is a cheap rock on wheels.

I think that doc can be found by clicking the second link in my first post and browsing through the clip library. I actually started to watch it, but figured I'd save it for a day when I've got a little more time (or am about to start venturing into Alexander Fu Sheng's films).

Do you mean here, or at Youtube? If you mean here, then yeah, they're excruciatingly slow sometimes lately. Not always, mind you, but it's more than a little frustrating when it happens while I'm trying to add pictures to a gallery. For nearly a half-hour today, I couldn't get into the site at all, and that happens from time to time as well. Weird, considering Bob's announcement of a new server on the front page last year.

Yeah I meant here, I had problems accessing the site and when I was able to access it, it took several minutes just to open a forum page.
Bob might not be aware of it as he seems to be pretty busy with other stuff, maybe someone should send him a lot message and notifying him.

What a lovely interview--and the action scenes that are cut in are also quite nice.

I was particularly taken with the way she chose a life in the cinema: At 15 she went to Tokyo to attend school to be a Physical Education teacher, went with a friend to see "Young Master" and decided there and then to be an action actress.

Good thing they didn't see "The Blue Lagoon"--also released in 1980.
