Summary: Somewhat disappointing Venom film...

The Venoms reunite for another go around, this time taking on a corrupt general who has killed the family of Yang Daying (Lo Meng). Daying goes to see his four closest friends to devise a plan for revenge. Fu Quanyi (Lu Feng), Xinzheng (Sun Chien), Liang Guoren (Phillip Kwok) and Chen Feng (Chiang Sheng) are all of modest means, but are incredibly loyal to one another. After a few initial schemes to gather funds for their plot do not pan out, Daying decides to take matters into his own hands and do the job alone. Unfortunately, he is overwhelmed by the general (Wong Lik) and his three martial art master bodyguards and killed. Realizing they are dealing with a bit more than they had planned for, the remaining friends devise an elaborate plan to gain the trust of the general and eventually destroy him.
The Daredevils is a decent movie, but never reaches the levels that one expects from a Venom collaboration. One of the most charismatic actors in the Shaw stables, Lo Meng, is disposed of within the first 30 minutes and the movie suffers for it. The supporting four are good, but the exciting kung fu acrobatics do not really kick in until the final scene of the film. The remainder of the movie is filled with the overly-complicated plot to get the general to fall for their plan. It involves Lu Feng's character pretending to be a rich son of a high-ranking military leader looking to establish a power base in that region of the country. Unfortunately for the viewer, the plot takes much too long to develop and the payoff in the end, although well done, is not worth the wait. A typically abrupt and puzzling Chang Cheh ending makes The Daredevils a middle-of-the-pack addition to the Venoms library.

Summary: Just about evens out to an avarage movie

There’s a plot in here relating to an evil warlord that kills off one of our heroes’ family, but it’s all very strained and perfunctory. Actually, a lot of the movie is quite perfunctory and there’s a general half-arsedness (if that’s a real word) to it all.

A case in point is the whole middle section, which is flatter than an unusually flat pancake that’s been gone over by a steamroller. There’s an attempt at intrigue (I guess this was around the time the Chor Yuen films were popular) involving the sale of a non-existent weapons cache and it just falls on its face. And it seems to go on for months!

This is from the team behind the now legendary FIVE VENOMS and the new love of my life, CRIPPLED AVENGERS. The Venoms themselves are on fine form, and leap about with great aplomb. But Chang Cheh, as usual, shows he was utterly incapable of consistency. There’s also a worrying turn towards comedy (again, another film that was doing great box-office around this time was DRUNKEN MASTER) with some of the routines and the Venoms doing comedy just doesn’t feel right at all.

There are high points. Oh yes, there are high points. For example, for connoisseurs of the nunchaku this film is a must-see. We have a couple of blazing scenes involving the weapon, including the best with Lo Meng (who will forever be remembered as the Toad from FIVE VENOMS) who is simply stunning with them. As well as this, the last fifteen minutes are action packed and very compelling.

I am not the type of fan who demands action all the way through a film (and often complain when presented with such), but the unevenness of DAREDEVILS is a hurdle that is simply insurmountable. Were it not for the truly horrid attempt at being a second-rate thriller (and failing) and the lacklustre approach to the story and characterisation (we simply do not know enough about the characters or why they seem to be bonded to each other) there would be much to enjoy. Sadly, though, DAREDEVILS misfires far too often to be truly enjoyable.

Summary: They just want to show off there skills

This movie reminds me of the thai fighting movie "born to fight"
in terms of the stars showing off there great skills with flips and other things as if they were circus performers!!

This is better than your average SB movie simply because of the lengths they went through to perform there stunts and the final fight scene, though unrealistic, shows just how talented the 5 venoms are!! There is no stand out performer but you have to see the 2 man rolling ball, and they go under a table to do it!!Worth watching just for that

Several revolutionaries plot to kill a general. As with allvenom films, tons of great action and fighting, making an altogether fun romp.
