Summary: GOOD - but VCD is bad.

Firstly, unless this has been re-released on DVD, the only available copy around is a very old poor quality VCD by Winson. The name Devil Hunters would usually put in most people’s minds that this is a horror film, but not at all, it’s a police action film. Well, with Sibelle Hu & Moon Lee what would you expect?

Though the story is interesting enough, and the action is up to the best standards in the 80’s, the quality of the film looks like it was filmed in the 60’s. It’s this poor quality which ruins the film. If you don’t understand Cantonese then this is another reason not to see this, because the subtitles are invisible most of the time. However, if this gets to come out on DVD, then anyone who likes the classic 80’s HK action films should definitely check this out. Ray Lui takes the main role as a cop. He looks like a mixture of Jackie Chan & Chow Yun Fat as he gets into a lot of hand to hand fights as well as walking around with his guns blazing, making it very entertaining if you like either of their films. The team, also consisting of Sibelle Hu, Alex Man and mystery girl Moon Lee go after a crime lord, Francis Ng. Rival gang member Michael Chan also pursues the crimelord. Typical police/triad plot, but very enjoyable. For action it deserves 5 stars, but the story looses interest near the end, although also deserves top marks most of the way though and for the sudden plot twist that arises halfway through the film. Unbelievably though, every SINGLE character dies.

If anyone considers getting this on VCD, if they can find it, I wouldn’t bother to be honest, not so much for the fact that the film is bad, because it’s quite good, but because the quality of the VCD is terrible.

Worth seeing. My rating is NOT taking into account the poor quality of the film.

Rating: [4/5]

It's nearly impossible to figure out what's going on in this film. Everyone is after a big crime boss who's nasty younger brother has set him up to look bad. The police (including a sharp and sexy Sibelle Hu) are out to get him. His daughter (cute and perky Moon Lee) is out to get him. Some other guy who is never explained is out to get him. They all finally decide to work together and take out the bad guys. The action is non-stop and the fighting and gunplay are excellent and brutal. Looks and feels like it was shot back-to-back with "Killer Angels" and both Moon Lee and Sibelle Hu are great. Too bad it just doesn't make more sense.
