Gigolo and Whore II

Summary: Better than the original, but .......

Also, like many HK films, the sequel has nothing to do with the original, apart from Simon Yam playing pretty much the same role.

First, the Cat III rating. The LD I rented is not marked Cat III, so I'm wondering if this is a mistake. Certainly the content does not warrant C3. The greatest amount of nudity is in the opening sequence when Veronica Yip drops her robe (yum yum) but she doesn't turn around (sob sob). She shows off her boobs later, but the lovely Ver seems to be noticeably drooping. Could this be the real reason she did so few nude scenes after this film ?

Equally sadly, the just as lovely Ng Suet Man doesn't take anything off.

The original was pretty dull and muddled, and G&W II is much better, though that still doesn't make it a great film. Apart from Simon Yam's lecture on how to treat women and your little brother, there's not much substance and just lots of lovely pictures and people to watch.

It is hard to get past the basic dumbness of the story. Simon Yam's character gets the job of seducing lesbian executive played by RK. Why didn't they just hire Ver Yip to do this ? Perhaps it would have shortened the movie somewhat ?!

Starts out great, gradually runs out of puff and never really recovers.

Summary: Rosamund and Simon heat it up

This is not a bad little romance.
Gigolo SY is paid to make love to RK (as if she needs to be fixed up!) as part of a scheme to get her to turn over some bonds (I didn't quite get this), they fall in love, she finds out about the plot, but he really does love her now, etc.

The best thing about this film is that it features something rarely seen in a HK film (no, not a coherent plot): open-mouthed kissing. The love scenes are pretty slurpy for a non-Cat III movie. If you're tired of the "eskimo" kiss, the look-like-you're-going-to-kiss-but-then-suddenly-hug move, the put-your-lips-together-and-roll-your-heads-around-like-ball-bearings kiss and the other strange forms of smooching in HK films, check this one out.
