Perfect Couples

Summary: 8/10-Very funny

Raymond Wong should take a bow for this hilarious film about a crowd of people all looking for their perfect match. Raymond Wong and George Lam are good as the brothers-one who is a womanizer, the other obsessed with being a father. The scenes where Lam's imagination takes hold are very funny, like the one in the supermarket where he imagines confronting Sandra Ng, and the one where he is at church.

But yes, the greatest part is the climax, with an amazing array of "adulterers" and "lovers"-Lydia Shum and Teresa Mo are China and HK wives of Wong, with Lam, Shum's lover, and Wu Fung (a prominent TV actor in a small role) Mo's lover, and Richard Ng, Shum's other lover...It's a classic to watch. Very entertaining and highly recommended.

PS: The only problem I had with the film was its portrayal of its "gay" character, who declares himself a man after screwing a lady. Get off it!

Four couples go through a chess game of romantic combinationsin a plot so elaborate even Shakespeare wouldn't have dared. The wacky farce relies too much on misdirection and false identity as characters bumble around toward their ideal mates, and a few gags are shameless ripoffs; but when those dominos go tumbling down in the climax, the effect is pure genius.
