山雞變鳳凰 (1994)
Don't Shoot Me, I'm Just a Violinist!

Summary: Failed attempt at romantic comedy

Somehow, the teaming of Teresa Mo as an angry female Dirty Harry (complete with huge Magnum 45 which tosses her backwards when fired) and dopey illegal mainland violinist Lau Ching Wan flops.

Perhaps it's that everyone plays it loud, with mouths open all the time going "ahhh". Vivi Lai and Gabriel Wong as the second bananas only add to the mayhem, as does veteran Woo Fung as their long-suffering boss.

Not that the film is a total loss. Even a bad appearance by Lau Ching Wan isn't a waste, and this isn't his worst film. Shing Fui On has a hilarious time as the near-sighted assassin.

But I couldn't get past the first 45 minutes. Oh well, next movie...
