Summary: Fair to dull "other woman" drama

Warning : This film does NOT earn its Category III rating. If you're looking for a film with lush nudity, sex action or extreme gory violence, this ain't it ! There is ONE topless scene at the 32nd minute, where the pretty village girl bares more than her feelings for the male lead. And there is an unexpected and blood-spattered short scene at the 74th minute, where the male lead's wife finally releases rage at her huband. Everything else is strictly PG, and even these two scenes should only just nudge it into Category IIa.

The above description of this film as a "vanity piece for Bobby Au Yeung" (also lead actor in Daze Raper) is puzzling. To me, more like a vehicle for Lily Chung to overact as the wilful, stylish wronged woman. The two female actresses are very pretty. Lily Chung as Wan looks a lot like Maggie Cheung, and Cheng Yim-Lai (one of the few good features of the otherwise awful Daughter of Darkness II) is just adorable. The story occsaionally becomes involving, and a couple of the scenes are quite beautiful, particularly the topless scene (a slow tender lovemaking scene with rain falling heavily outside), though it's been done many times and much better elsewhere. But it's mostly pretty forgettable stuff.

Shiu goes to mainland China to start up a business. His wife Wan makeshim promise not to get a concubine. Instead, he falls for his distant cousin. What will Wan do when she finds out ? A vanity piece for Au Yeung Chun Wah that just gets more and more contrived. Maybe if I had a better sense of humor I would put this film in the 'so bad it's good' category.
