A man dying of Aids decides to tape the remainders of his life on videotape.
This is not a blockbuster plot. Indeed, while available on DVD and VCD, I Shoot Myself tends to be ignored by critics and public alike: it came fifth amongst the least succesful Hong Kong movies of 1998. Quoting Chinese University Film Workshop boss Takkie Yeung Yat Tak (from Fluff in Color), "We have never focused on the Hong Kong market. The European market is our target."
However, to the best of my knowledge, I Shoot Myself has yet to be released in any European country. Which is a great shame, for all in all, we are dealing with a marvellous little movie, credible, touching and even amusing.
