Reviewed by: barrst Date: 09/13/2007 Summary: Huangmei Opera Ivy Ling Bo stars as a poor (male) scholar who shows up at a family's home to claim his bride, who was pledged to him by his and her parents long ago. Only his family and their daughter (Li Ching) would rather have a rich relation, so they put off the engagement while Ivy studies to get a position. A carp spirit (Li Ching again) falls in love with the scholar and romances him in the guise of the daughter. This deception is discovered and the 2nd half of the film is very fun with action, comedy, and SFX. Lily Li (~14 at the time) has a very small role. Reviewer Score: 7
