Diary of a Lady-Killer

Summary: True Love and a Red Beetle

This 1969 murder mystery film is a classic of the genre and the period. It has it all, suave men, beautiful women, groovy music, cool cars (like the red VW beetle), even cooler nightclub scenes, a few risque scenes and quite some suspense. It is well written and acted and even the twists and turns in the story (and the obligatory red-herring) are well suited and acted. I always enjoy the on location street shots of 1960s Hong Kong and this film has some good ones and it shows there was a time before traffic gridlock in Yau Ma Tei!
Overall this film ticks all the boxes for what it is and I can say that I will view this film again before too long. There is even some worthy advice in it about the benefits (or not) of keeping a truly candid diary. I recommend this one highly.
