Summary: Sammo wants to be John Woo

Considering all the comedies up to now Sammo Hung had produced, this was his first really violent film, and was given a Cat III rating. This rating was not so much for the pointless gun battles, but more for his dirty toilet language - more so than Stephen Chow was famous for (those words that never get translated correctly in English that you never know about unless you know the Cantonese phrases!).

This looks just like a stupid American movie about martial arts (like the Jean Claude Van-Dam films), about 2 brothers who are martial arts experts who nobody can beat. The brothers were separated at birth, one was brought up by an uncle, the other grew up on the streets (yes, the same plot Jackie Chan stole for Twin Dragons too). They both meet one night, quite by chance, and immediately get involved in a gang fight. When they are questioned by police, the officer speaking to them happens to be one of the brothers’ girl friend's father. There are more unbelievable consequences too, so many in fact that is soon turns into a joke.

Then there are the 'Rocky' fight scenes, which corny rock music and all shown in slow motion, that really made me wonder why Sammo bothered with this film. It's no surprise he started to go down at this time, he had completely ran out of ideas it would seem. If you like films that have weak stories, no plot, pointless and unprovoked gang fights (a bit like Y&D series) then you might like this, otherwise this one you should bury in your garden never to dig up again if you have it.

Rating: 1/5
