I don't even know where to begin with this one...

Trivializing cultural values (different from your own), as well as trivializing the open racism in cinema (past and present), without an appropriate contextual background is offensive in the extreme...particularly in the case of Asian racism IMO: which is not only alive and well to this day in the U.S., but continues to be institutionally minimalized.

I'm sure the author had benign intent...but that's not the point. Far from it.

Among the institutions are The United States Government and The New York Times as shown in the case of Wen Ho Lee. Most people here probably know of the shameful case of Lee, an American citizen who was born in Taiwan.

I have read a lot about this case and even contributed a bit of money a few years ago. One of the only upbeat parts of the Wen Ho Lee case(other than the grace, class and honor that Dr. Lee showed during his ordeal) was that the quiet celebration that took place shortly after his release when his neighbors, most of them white and most of them connected to Los Alamos in some way, stopped by his house to welcome him home. Two of them had offered to pledge their own homes for his bail.
