I don't have QuikTime, so I couldn't see the trailer you linked to, so I went to You Tube. I watched two there. The first had the two leads in the back seat of a cab singing that French pop hit everyone knows but no one knows the name of. The word "desperation" came to my mind. It was awful.

The second featured a couple stills under "Bad To The Bone." Nothing special there.

If either of those is the official trailer, then to paraphase Chris Tucker in RH1, "you won't be seeing Chris and Jackie in Rush Hour 4."

I think the Apple site was just posting the trailers when I posted that link. I had to watch the HD ones to get them to work. The regular ones didn't play anything. That was last night, though, so perhaps it's running smoother now?

The Apple trailer is indeed the one with the "French Song" (actually "Lady Marmalade" by the American group LaBelle, which shows how far Brett Ratner is willing to go to "send up" the French  ), so that's probably what you saw. I wasn't too surprised at how low-brow most of the "humour" looks in this. Talk about coasting. Not that I'd expect anything better, but the whole thing looks like such a lazy cash-grab. Of course, Ratner IS the guy who admitted in the audio commentary for it that the first film's screenplay was just the kind of pablum that would boost Chan's career in America, and by and large he was right. But if the rewards of that boost have been one high-concept piece of junk after another built around "lovable" Jackie's fish out of water routine, it's probably time to pack it in.
