CBC yanks Falun Gong doc after pressure from Chinese embassy

This sure smells bad! The CBC is not usually known for caving to pressure over documentaries and news items it runs and, as a publically funded corporation, it necessarily demonstrates far less bias than most of the country's privately-held media organizations, particularly in the print realm. When one of our newspapers slants certain stories in favour of the owner's politics, it's practically a given, but in this case it really does seem, as one interviewee suggests, like a case of treating China in a "very special way."

EDIT: This just in: CBC sez no pressure from China! Plans to broadcast Olympics remain unchanged. :D

Good to hear, that.
[edit] I guess I misread that, I see the show was cancelled.

He added that CBC intends to air it after completing a review...

At the same time, CBC wanted time to get together with Rowe and make certain changes in his film.

Rowe says if CBC plans to re-edit the show, they will have to do it without him. "I'm off to Australia and other places for my other show. I'm just surprised Canadians can't see the real version already seen in Quebec and other countries."

Will have to keep track of this possibility.

"Thewinekone" helps launch Youtube Canada. Not sure why we need a Youtube up here since we can already upload to the regular one just like everyone else. This is probably only mildly amusing, but I guess this dude's got a following. I think someone linked to one of his videos a loooonnng time ago in one of the forums here, so...here's some more...

The Wine Kone always makes me laugh! He's got real talent and incredibly entertaining. He's got more episodes than a typical CW series.
