fists of legends / iron bodyguards

couldn´t find this movie in the db

this is a 2 in 1 movie.the main part is simply taken from "return of the assassin" 1973 http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/view.mhtml?i ... ay_set=eng mixed with new footage from 1996.

by reading a toby russell interview i recognized the face of cho ha foo http://hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=6057&display_set=eng
(best known from the kung fu kids series) he was credited as jet le.as a big fan of him i had to order the movie directly.i´ve been glad as far as the opening scene ends and the movie flips senseless to "return of the assassin".now and there comes a short scene from the new footage which is tolerable choreographed.
i had the impression that they´ve used the same actors/stuntmen for different scenes.
untill i´ve watched the movie i didn´t know anything about the actor/stuntman todd senofonte,he is an impressive martial artist,he looks very similar to j.c.van damme, i´ve read that he was double for him many times.

Since 2005, in order to add a movie in out DB, first of all we need the Chinese title.

oh,i didn´t know that the chinese title is necessary

i´ve searched but hardly couldn´t find any chinese title

just: fist of legend 2
fists of legends 2/iron bodyguards
fist of legends 2/iron bodyguards

produced and released by vengeance video

all available versions are english dubbed, so it seems not to be made for chinese market

anyway,it´s a low budget montage movie and not really worth watching

So I assume uber-Hong-Kong-cinema-fan Toby Russell has no qualms against putting "Jet Li presents" on the cover of his DVD release to lure in buyers less knowledgeable than yourself? Priceless. :D

...to lure in buyers less knowledgeable than yourself?

i have that knowledge,i wouldn´t buy the movie because there is "jet li presents" written on the cover, that would make me sceptical.jet li was never been connected with a second part of "fist of legend"
it was only the interest of cho ha foo,i knew him from the kung fu kids series and a small part in "city of darkness" so i was very interested.

and at first i recognized cho ha foo from a screenshot, not from the cover!

some producers are ruthless, think about all the bruce lee clone and montage movies.
but there are also a few jackie chan montage movies like "master of disaster","jackie chan´s second strike","the young tiger"the most known"master with cracked fingers"and even movies without any scene where jackie is in,like"der ninja"(ninja thunderbolt)"drunken fist boxing",36 crazy fists","ninja wars" and "blind fist of bruce" :)

So true! I guess I just didn't know enough about the much-touted Mr. Russell to realize he was part of that camp. But hey, whatever sells . . . ;)

Regarding this film - I think it should be added to the database while we are looking for the Chinese title. Most likely the scenes with Cho Ha Foo are from an unfinished piece, but the scenes were released as part of this film. As a service to those looking for information, shouldn't we add this to complete some filmographies? Some key people appear in the new footage, including Lu Feng and Larry Lee (i think). For completists this should most likely be added.

Let me know your thoughts.

Right maybe add this movie, but then somebody can find chinese title(i hope so).
For example i'd liek to see cthe complete Joh Haau Fu filmography.I know lately he acted in tv and taiwan movies, but only those who have watched can prove it.I have some screenshots, but don't know where they are from or can anyone recognize this films. :(

Or are you suggesting it be listed separately ?

Yes,and why?
Let's look at our database. We have a movie Fatal Termination and Hard To Kill aka Interpol Connection, and these 2 movies has the same scene too.But they are 2 different movies.

I would suggest listing it separately as well. You can't really add the cast or IDs from the 1996 footage to Return of the Assassin, since that was obviously made as an unrelated film. It should be separate, but maybe listed only with the cast members from the new footage and a note to see RotA for original cast. Was Return of the Assassin ever released on VHS/DVD? It would be interesting to know if the 96 redub changes the plot completely from the original film.

Guys, guys. You are missing the main point.
This is a recut/new version by Americans - English speakers. It appears only in an English/English dub version. Therefore, it does not have a Chinese title. And as calros said, we only add movies with Chinese titles.

So, unless anyone can prove that the recut has a separate Chinese title ........
